American Education Week at Winslow Elementary; Winslow, IN
Winslow Elementary' invited me to be a part of American Education Week (week long version of career day). I was able to share some presentations that consisted of "What it takes to become a doctor", "How to not be afraid at the doctor's office" and an overview/demonstration on equipment and resources family medicine doctors use on a daily basis. My audience consisted of pre-k through 5th grades along with staff (about 300 in total). They were an amazing audience and I took away a few lessons of my own:
The influence of money, biases and internal limitations can start very young. But so can inspiration, motivation and pursuit of learning!
The hard questions never get easier to answer, I'm just getting better on knowing how not to be shocked anymore.
It isn't about what I say that is important, it's what those children heard and remember.
